Composite for machining of aluminium based materials The machining of elements made of aluminium and its alloys is widely used in the aviation and automotive industries. The complex shapes of aluminium parts often pose challenging requirements for materials and cutting tools made from them. Frequently-applied intermittent treatment prevents the use of efficient tools from PCD, because of its low impact resistance.

As an alternative solution, GeniCore offers a composite material on the basis of diamond, with DEC (diamond-enhanced cemented carbide) guaranteeing high-impact resistance, combined with a much higher degree of hardness as compared to the cemented carbide. Another argument is that it offers an opportunity to apply the appropriate geometry to machining aluminium alloys, which ensures the quality of the surfaces after machining and a stable and quiet operation.
